Surface image guided radiotherapy Clinical applications and Challenges Our Experience

Optical Surface Scanners

  • 3D Optical surface guided is noninvasive  technology
  • Light Projectors, Multiple sensors, Reconstruction
  • A Narrow band width light(Red) from projector  illuminates the object.
  • Reflected lights from the object grabbed by the  sensors
  • Reconstruction of multiple surface layers  3D surface of actual geometry.

AlignRT How Does it works

Step 1: Calibration

Step 2: Active Stereo

Project pseudo-random optical speckle pattern on the subject  The pattern adds texture and is used for 3D reconstruction  The near infrared light is not harmful to the patient’s eyes

Step 3: Vertices are then created and triangulated  Each vertex comprises (x, y, z) values

Each triangle consists of 3 corresponding vertices

Step 4: The system creates a 3D surface model consisting of 10000 to  20,000 points

Surface data is composed of a number of triangles

The greater the number of triangles, the higher the surface resolution,  less frame rate
